Definition of 8S
8S is the eight items of sorting (SEIRI), rectifying (SEITON), cleaning (SEISO), cleaning (SEIKETSU), literacy (SHITSUKE), safety (SAFETY), saving (SAVE) and learning (STUDY), because of its ancient Roman pronunciation All start with "S" and are referred to as 8S for short.

Jiangsu AMTE 8S management definition and requirements
1S- finishing
Definition: Distinguish between what is needed and what is not to be used at the production site, and remove the unused from the site and dispose of it properly.
Purpose: To free up the space for flexible use, ensure production safety, improve work efficiency, and reduce the incidence of quality accidents.
Requirements: Strictly distinguish the items on the production site, and resolutely discard those that are necessary and unnecessary.
2S- rectification
Definition: clearly plan, locate and mark the sorted items.
Purpose: After rectification, the items left behind are placed in a place where they can play a role, so that the scene is in a stable and orderly state.
Requirements: The positioning, quantification, and identification of the items left after sorting should be neatly arranged, and the number should be clearly marked.
3S-cleaning
Definition: Remove dirt in the workplace and prevent the occurrence of pollution.
Purpose: Eliminate "dirt" and maintain environmental hygiene in the workplace.
Requirements: Frequent cleaning and cleaning to maintain a clean and tidy working environment.
4S-clean
Definition: Institutionalize and standardize the above 3S implementation practices and maintain their results.
Purpose: To maintain results through institutionalization.
Requirement: Institutionalize and standardize the implementation of sorting, rectification, and cleaning.
5S-literacy
Definition: Cultivate civilized and polite habits, act according to regulations, and develop good working habits.

6S-Security
Definition: Eliminate hidden safety hazards, ensure the safety of personnel on the job site and product quality, and prevent accidents.

7S-saving
Definition: Saving is the process of abandoning without value-added, eliminating ineffective links, optimizing and reasonable allocation of company resources, reducing various costs and expenses under the premise of ensuring quality, reducing enterprise manpower, cost, time, space, inventory, material consumption and other factors.
Purpose: to reduce unnecessary expenses and waste.

8S-learning
Definition: Keep learning and improve quality.
Purpose: To enable the company to continuously improve and cultivate a learning organization.
Requirements: In-depth study of various professional and technical knowledge, learning from colleagues and supervisors, so as to continuously improve themselves and improve overall quality.
Set up a promotion team to implement strict responsibilities
In order to further strengthen the basic management work, we have formulated an implementation plan for comprehensively promoting standardized management based on the actual work in the workshop, and established a construction work promotion team. According to each work area of the workshop, the on-site management person and the person in charge are divided, and the responsibility is strictly implemented.
